We will be traveling to the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay this coming September 4th – 6th and
staying in St. Michaels, Maryland. Our host hotel is the Best Western St. Michaels (410) 745-3333 be sure
to request the Flathead Reunion rate.

Tuesday, September 2nd

Ohio caravan to Savage, MD leaving Norwalk, OH. We will be heading to Morgantown, WV to take I-68
east to Maryland. Complete caravan directions are printed at the bottom of this page or in the ETCetera.

Wednesday, September 3rd

For anyone who came in on Tuesday evening, we will be going to the National Cryptologic Museum on
Wednesday morning. Then we will be driving to St. Michael’s with a possible lunch stop along the way.

The skipjack sailing tour for Wednesday afternoon early arrivals has been finalized. The cost will be $35
per person. We need a minimum of 12 people with a maximum of 32. We already have 11 confirmed to
go sailing. The tour will be mid-afternoon finishing in time to get dinner before the meet & greet on

Please be advised this is an authentic working skipjack. There are deck boxes (containing the life
preservers) to sit on. Captain Ed also told me that the vessel is very stable and you can stand
comfortably. He also said that there is a limited risk of sea sickness because of the stability of the vessel,
being in the bay helps too.

Evening Meet & Greet at 7:00 pm for everyone at the Holy Mackerel next to the host hotel.

Thursday, September 4th

Seminars /Discussions at the host hotel

Vintage Clothing/ Antique tour - $20 per person. The ladies will be visiting Peg Rider to see her
collection of vintage clothes from the late 1800’s thru 1930’s. Most are custom made for her and some are
originals. The ladies are really going to love Peg she can tell so many stories. We will have a nice
scenic drive to Peg’s house. We will also have time to do some antique shopping on the trip pre-register
for this trip.

Thursday evening meal at St. Michaels Crab & Steakhouse in downtown St. Michaels. This restaurant is
on the waterfront. We have a separate room reserved.
Choice of 4 entrée’s: Crab cake, Crab Imperial, Rockfish, or Filet Mignon
The meal will include salad, vegetable, potato and coffee or ice tea.
Please indicate the entrée that you would like on the bottom of the registration form.

We’ve been asked to clarify the meal items for Thursday’s dinner.
Crab cake - crabmeat specially seasoned, usually served fried
Rockfish - a local fish similar to bass, this will be broiled in an herb butter.
Crab Imperial - Backfin lump crabmeat in a special sauce, usually mayonnaise based
Steak

Friday, September 5th

Flathead Road Trip Driving tour - The driving tour is being finalized. We will return to St. Michael’s to
tour the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Saturday, September 6th

The Show & Shine will be held at the Historical Society of Talbot County in downtown Easton, MD
Lunch on Saturday will be on your own. There are many restaurants in downtown Easton. If you would
prefer a picnic lunch by your car, contact the grocery store located next to the hotel to pick up a lunch
from them before you drive to the show area.
Saturday evening “awards” with dessert & coffee at the host hotel.


David & Bobbi Luken will be leaving Illinois on Monday, Sept 1st to meet up in Norwalk for the caravan.

Leave Norwalk at 7:30 a.m.
Follow Rt 250 East to Cadiz, OH
Cadiz, OH to St. Clairsville, OH on OH Rte 9
Pick up I-70 @ St. Clairsville
Follow I-70 to I-79 go South on I-79 to PA Exit 14
Lunch stop at PA exit 14 at approximately Noon We plan on being here 1 hour.
1:00 p.m. follow I-79 South to I-68
I-68 to I-70 158 miles to the next exit
Exit 18 for MD 68
M 68 east to Alt US 40
Alt US 40 for 36 miles to I-70
Merge onto I-70 East for 32 miles
Exit 80 MD 32 for 33 miles
Exit 12 for Rte 1 South to Laurel
Follow Rte 1 to the Days Inn & Suites
We should arrive at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Alt. Route if traffic is heavy on I-70 after Alt 40
Exit 68 MD 27 South to MD 144 East
MD 144 is the Old National Pike
In 16.5 miles (approx) we will come to MD 32
